Thousands of Faces

The first part of an exploration of the female image: outward beauty, inner experience and the circumstances that reveal a personality.

In the beginning there was an ideal image of a woman, seemingly engraved in lines with a stylus. I was drawn to the beauty of the silhouette, the clothes, the ornament, the movement of hair and the endless small details.

Over time, I wanted to show more than an attractive appearance. Behind each image, an experience began to emerge: love and vulnerability, dreams and uncertainty, the wish to be seen or, conversely, to hide from the gaze of others. Sometimes a face becomes a mask concealing the real person.

That is why the series received its monumental title, Thousands of Faces. For me, the female image is multifaceted precisely because outward beauty and inner experience are intertwined. It changes with circumstances, age, desires and experience.

However many faces we see, this diversity never runs out.
